10/14/09:  I stopped over for a couple of nights to find some peace and quiet and do some writing. The luxury cabins are indeed extremely comfortable and well-equipped, and the surrounding area is delightful. I would strongly recommend Hickory Hideaway for aspiring writers in search of inspiration! The only slight drawback is the fact that Lake Carroll is mostly private access only, which is a little surprising when you're coming from Europe where similar sized lakes generally have more public access areas and waterside walkways.

9/19/09:  My wife and I came to getaway in order to some planning for our church. This was the perfect place to just get away from it all. George and Sherrie made sure all of our needs were met, and we wanted to take Chase home with us. We would highly recommend Hickory Hideaway for anyone who just needs to get away.

7/22/09:  Third time we have stayed at the Hickory Hideaway for family reunions in the area. As usual everything was simply outstanding. The cabins are spotless and well supplied. The play area is clean and immaculately kept. George and Sherrie could not be more helpful and friendly. The last night we were there we did not get back to the cabin until late and Sherrie was just leaving. However she still came over to see if we needed anything which was good as we needed two more mattresses for my nephews who were staying with us that night. Sherrie got the mattresses and bedding for us with a smile on her face. Only one small concern, my Grandson misses "Chase the Wonder Dog" terribley. See ya next year and thanks again. Dan

7/13/09:  A+ hospitality!!! We enjoyed our stay and the hospitality was unbelievable!! We would loved to have stayed longer and would without a doubt stay again!! We recommend this facility to anyone with kids,couples,families,or anyone visiting this area!!It is beautiful countryside with peaceful surroundings!!We stayed in 4 star hotels before and Hickory Hideaway"s service and friendliness is far and beyond!!The kid's want to say hello to "Chase",the friendly dog,and thanks for the campfires!!We hope to come back soon as we have relatives nearby on Lake Carroll.!!

7/02/09:  Hickory Hideaway is one of the nicest places in NW IL. The owners are friendly and inviting. I would recommend staying there any time of the year....it's always great.
